Rules of Play

ATTIRE & CARE OF COURTS
All clothing shall be recognised tennis attire. Non-marking tennis shoes should be worn.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL TRACKSHOES OR THE LIKE BE PERMITTED AS THE HEAVY TREADS DAMAGE THE PLAYING SURFACES.

No glasses or glass bottles allowed on court.  Players are responsible for removing their litter.

 

JUNIORS
 Juniors have priority to use all 4 courts on Mondays 4-6.30 pm plus 2 courts until 7.30 for coaching, and Saturdays 9-11am

Seniors/Intermediates must vacate the courts if Juniors are waiting to play at these times.  (Exceptions for Senior Surreys Matches – occasional need for  2 courts from 10a.m. on Saturdays).

At all other times, with the exception of Club Sessions, Juniors may use the courts if there are no seniors/intermediates waiting to play.

 

GUESTS
Members may bring guests to play at the Club provided:

i. The member shall sign the visitors book and pay a fee of £3.00 per guest (£1.50 juniors) per visit before commencing play. (This fee shall include entry to the bar during their visit). The fee should be paid to the bar staff or Tennis Committee Member if the bar is closed.

ii. Guests must comply with all the above rules.

iii. No person shall play as a guest on more than 6 occasions per year.
 

 

CLUB PLAY SESSIONS
Beginners must be played-in by a tennis committee member before playing in these sessions.

A 'Ball-Chute’ system is available to ensure all members get a chance to play and mix in.

Play shall be first to six games (i.e. maximum score 6-5)

Singles shall only be allowed provided there are no players waiting to play doubles.

 

COURT BOOKINGS
Courts Can Be Booked For The Following Reasons Only:
Surrey League Matches - (To be booked by the Team Captain).  Saturday mornings only to be used if there are no courts available on Sunday morning or afternoon.

Inter-Club Matches (Friendlies) April - August: - As per details listed on Noticeboard and arranged by Match Secretary.

Singles Leagues and Club Tournament Matches: - It is up to the individual to check the Court Booking Form and book an available court. Not to be booked before 10.30 am on Sundays.

Coaching:- By official club coaches.

 

GENERAL PLAY
At times apart from those detailed in the tennis programme, courts can be used for general play on a 'first come basis'. If other players are waiting, doubles or singles may be played for one set only.

 

TENNIS BALLS
New and ex-match balls available for purchase from the bar.
 

 


FLOODLIGHTS
Courts No. 1, 3 and 4 have floodlights which are currently charged at approx. £2 per hour session. The meter is located in the Gents cloakroom in the clubhouse.

Free use of floodlights is available for the Club session on Thursday evenings until 10pm and up until 6pm on Saturdays.
